Our Story
Celebrating family traditions, heritage, and authentic African home cooking.
Rooted in Tradition, Served With Love
MAMA PUT'AM African Kitchen was born from a deep respect for culture, family, and the comfort of home-cooked meals. Every dish we prepare reflects generations of tradition, shared stories, and the belief that good food brings people together.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The name “mama put” comes from a beloved Nigerian street-food tradition. It refers to local food vendors—often women—who serve freshly prepared, home-style meals with warmth, generosity, and authenticity. Customers would say, “Mama, put am!” meaning, “Mama, please serve it.”
African Food Heritage
For generations, the family has shared a love for cooking and enjoying good food. Homemade meals have always been at the heart of our upbringing, passed down from parents and grandparents. In our family, food is more than nourishment—it is connection, culture, and love served at the table.
